Emergency on working days
Weekend & holidays :
Loose bracket :
A bracket may come loose and remain attached to the wire. If it is not causing discomfort, it is not an emergency – please send an email to ……, and Dr. Gales will schedule an appointment for repair as soon as possible. If the loose bracket is irritating the cheek or tongue, apply orthodontic wax for protection.
Irritating wire :
During the early months of treatment, the wire is very flexible and may slip out of the last bracket. You can try to gently reinsert it using tweezers. As the treatment progresses, the wire becomes more rigid – if it slips out, please send an email to arrange an appointment to have it adjusted.
As teeth align or spaces close, the wire may extend beyond the last bracket between two check-ups, potentially causing irritation. If this happens, apply orthodontic wax and send an email to schedule an appointment to shorten the wire.
Pain and Sensitivity :
After each adjustment, it is normal to experience temporary sensitivity or discomfort. The intensity and duration of the pain vary from patient to patient. You may take paracetamol to relieve discomfort if needed.
